’55 Byron Blake, MD (1927-2016) 

 

Byron Blake, MD., age 89, of Grove City, Ohio, passed away March 6, 2016 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital.  He was a 1944 graduate of Grove City High School.  After serving int eh Navy abord the USS Lake Champlain from 1944-1946 in WWII, he graduated from The Ohio State University in 1950 and then he graduated in 1955 from The Ohio State University College of Medicine.  Dr. Blake was a practicing physician in Grove City for 55 years, and in 1975 was cofounder of Talbot Hall Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his son Jonathan Blake in 1981. Dr. Blake is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley (Winkle) Blake; son, Michael Blake, M.D.; daughter, Kimberly (Tommy) Taneff; grandsons, 2LT Blake Taneff, US Army and PFC Evan Taneff, US Marine Corps; granddaughter, Lily Xinyan Taneff. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice c/o Mount Carmel Foundation, 6150 East Broad St., Columbus, Oh 43213-9924 in his memory.
