Dr. Amanda Christine DeLong, a daughter of Dr. Victoria Yoon DeLong and John D. DeLong of Akron, Ohio, was married June 11 to Dr. Sean Teshima McCormick, a son of Donna J. Teshima of Concord, Calif., and Michael S. McCormick of Oakland, Calif. Dr. Drew W. Calhoun, a friend of the couple who was ordained by the Church of Spiritual Humanism to preside at this event, officiated at the Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio.
The couple received medical degrees from Ohio State in 2013, where they met.
The bride, 29, will take her husband’s name. She completed a residency in pediatrics this month at C. S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., and is to begin a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the same hospital next month. She graduated from Northwestern.
Her father, a patent lawyer, is a senior counsel in the intellectual property department at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron. Her mother is a child psychiatrist in Akron.
Dr. McCormick, 31, is a third-year resident in emergency medicine at Detroit Receiving Hospital, part of Detroit Medical Center. Next month, he is to begin at Emergency Medicine Physicians, a group practice in Canton, Ohio; his first year of practice will be at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern, N.C. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.
His mother works for the City of Berkeley mental health division as a crisis counselor in the public schools. His father retired as a public defender for Alameda County in Oakland.
