’54 Edna Sue Jackson, MD (1927-2016) 


​Edna Sue Jackson, MD 88, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, May 05, 2016, in the Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 23, 1927, in Springfield the daughter of the late Fred A. and Edna (Peters) Miller. She attended Ridgewood School and graduated from Springfield High School class of 1945. She went to Wittenberg College graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1949 and received her Medical Doctorate from The Ohio State University in 1954. Edna was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She practiced medicine first as a General Practitioner. Late she served as medical staff for Planned Parenthood, the Springfield Well Baby Clinic, and Mercy Hospital. Edna was known for her Christmas cookies, fudge, garage sales, and love for animals. She is survived by her son, Harter "Buzz" Jackson of Springfield, cousins: Fred Peters, Billy Peters, and Cindy Peters; and special friend, Gayle Peters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dale H. Jackson in 2008. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio or the Animal Welfare League of Clark County.
