The Ohio State University medical alumni gathered to celebrate the 64th Annual Medical Alumni Reunion during Homecoming Weekend, October 6-7. All alumni were welcome to attend, and 13 milestone-year classes were featured, from the veteran class of 1952, celebrating their 65-year reunion; to the class of 2012, celebrating their first reunion of just five years. Regardless of their anniversary year, alumni enjoyed a beautiful weekend back on campus.
Friday, October 6
Friday morning, alumni were invited to participate in and earn CME credit through the Center of Bioethics 3rd Annual Medical Ethics Conference: Ethics of Medical Marijuana in the Context of Pain and
The class of 1967 celebrated their milestone 50th class reunion with lunch hosted by K. Craig Kent, MD, Dean of the OSU College of Medicine and Roger Friedman, MD '77, President of the Medical Alumni Society. Classmates were presented with medallions and memory books to celebrate and recognize their post-graduation accomplishments.
The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center’s Hispanic Latino Network, the College of Medicine’s Office for Diversity and Inclusion, and the College of Medicine Alumni Affairs Office hosted a lunch and lecture, Diversity 4.0: Identifying the Next Generation of Work in Diversity & Inclusion for Academic Health Centers: The Social Responsibility to Community and Global Health. The 2017 Clotilde Dent Bowen, MD Diversity Visiting Professor was Dr. David Acosta, MD, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Association of American Medical Colleges.
Later in the afternoon, alumni and friends heard from Dean Kent and other College of Medicine leadership about medical education today and the vision for the future at The State of the College of Medicine: Past, Present, Future.
To cap off the day, alumni and guests gathered Friday evening for their Reunion Class Socials around Columbus.
Saturday, October 7
Over 250 alumni and guests showed their Buckeye Spirit at the Medical Alumni Tailgate outside of Meiling Hall just before heading to Ohio Stadium for an Ohio State victory over Maryland.
Homecoming Reunion weekend is always a fun time for alumni, families, and students to reconnect and celebrate.
