Employee Self Service Module

The Employee Self Service module allows users to change their home or work telephone numbers, address, emergency contacts, and some benefit information.  Employees (both student, faculty and staff) should periodically review this to ensure the most current information is entered.

Time and Leave Reporting

The Ohio State University uses a suite of centralized time reporting systems as follows:

eLeave: Used by faculty and staff for reporting all leave types (sick, vacation, parental, jury, etc.)

eTimesheet: Used by hourly staff and students to report actual hours worked.

Timesheets should be submitted by staff no later than end-of-day Friday for the prior week. Any timesheet not approved by Tuesday at 10:50 AM will be paid the following pay period.

Holidays

The University observes several holidays. A full list can be found here with the dates the University will be observing them. Please note that Columbus and President’s Day are observed in November and December respectively.

Scheduling Planned Absences

Vacation, planned sick leave (such as medical appointments) and other types of time off should be scheduled as far in advance as possible, generally at least two weeks in advance as possible. Documentation may be requested by your supervisor to support your request. A leave request should be submitted using the eLeave system.

Reporting Unplanned Absence

If you need to report an unplanned absence (either sick or vacation due to unforeseen circumstances), contact your supervisor as early as possible. Some areas require phone notification to ensure operational coverage while others may be reported by email. You should consult with your supervisor to determine the method and advance notice they prefer. A leave request should be submitted as early as possible using the eLeave system.
A medical excuse may be requested at the discretion of your supervisor, Director or Department Administrator.
