About the Program

The Biomedical Science major is an undergraduate major that leads to a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science. Students complete the major in four years. The major is ideally suited for students who have an interest in participating in medical research as undergraduates and plan to pursue graduate education.

Students in the major spend one to four years working with one of the prestigious, innovative, and exciting Wexner Medical Center research teams. Students in the Biomedical Science major are encouraged to explore career opportunities in the sciences. Students can select from a variety of courses, such as anatomy, physiology, and neuroscience while working in a research lab and volunteering at one of the Ohio State hospitals.

Approximately 26 students are accepted for each incoming freshman class. Participating in class discussion is not optional; students are expected to come to class prepared and ready to participate in discussion. Students learn as much from each other as they do from their professors.

These experiences, along with regular advising from our faculty and staff, will help determine the type of career students wish to pursue. Students who have a strong interest in a career in science, the determination and drive to take on a challenging undergraduate experience, and a high school record that demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence are encouraged to apply.
