Ayo Adesanya, MD, PhD, first-year Family Medicine resident, has been accepted to the American Heart Association Basic Cardiovascular Sciences Early Career Mentorship Program. He will intern as a visiting scholar in the Mary Wallingford Lab at Tufts University. The program was developed in an effort to support early career researchers in learning about cutting-edge cardiovascular research and in building scientific networks.

Dr. Adesanya has clinical interests in cardiovascular health and research, and aims to study biological mechanisms to prevent cardiovascular disease.

“I’m humbled for this opportunity to train in the unique junction of society, medicine and science,” Dr. Adesanya said. “Participating in the AHA BCVS Early Career Mentorship Program will allow me to learn new experimental methodology, and foster collaborations and mentorships. I am thankful to The Ohio State University for the institutional resources, the department and residency program for the support and training, and the AHA for opportunities to learn and advance science.”
