“The program was rigorous and demanding. It forced me to push myself and to strain myself in ways that allowed me to grow beyond my expectations. I developed confidence in my communication skills, my handling skills and my clinical reasoning skills that have made me much more comfortable in functioning independently as an orthopedic specialist and manual therapist. Being able to practice alongside Paul and Jake day in and day out allowed for the mentorship to be continuous whenever we were at the clinic together. Some of the most worthwhile and meaningful learning experiences I had during the fellowship came in unscripted discussions or nonscheduled contacts. It is invaluable to work alongside your clinical mentors while you are in fellowship.”

Cody Mansfield, PT, DPT, AT, FAAOMPT

“Our fellowship is a triple threat of clinical mentorship, research and teaching/leadership.  It is unique in having its home within Sports Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The opportunities and access to resources for growth are unparalleled to any other fellowship. My passion and focus was on research. I worked with Dr. Matt Briggs as key personnel on a randomized controlled trial assessing the effects of dry needling on patellofemoral pain, which ultimately led to Dr. Briggs being my PhD advisor. I led a systematic review and mentored two DPT students during their research elective course. My fellowship experience led to my current role as curriculum and research coordinator for the fellowship and clinic mentor for our orthopedic residency. This fellowship is what you want it to be. If you want to be a superb clinician, a clinician scientist, an excellent teacher—or a hybrid of all three—this is the fellowship for you. The mentors, resources and relationships you’ll cultivate through this program will help you excel in your area of passion within this profession.”
