Preparing for a Crucial Conversation Before You Have to Have One

Crucial conversations take place whenever outcomes truly matter, when emotions are strong and when people hold differing opinions. A December 18 seminar, "Preparing for a Crucial Conversation Before You Have to Have One," will provide a framework approaching important conversations and the tools for making them successful. Moderated by John D. Mahan, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Vice Chair for Education, a panel composed of Laura Phieffer, MD, Director of Orthopaedic Trauma, Bryan L. Martin, DO, Professor of Clinical Medicine and Director, Allergy & Immunology Fellowship and Bob Forte, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the OSU Faculty & Staff Assistance Program, will use an open discussion of a clinical vignette to highlight the characteristics of crucial conversations and discuss practical skills for preparing for and having crucial conversations. Presented December 18, 2009, 12:00 - 1:00 pm, in Room 115 of the BRT.
