Dr. Cai’s research mainly focuses on enhancing the effectiveness of cardiac stem cell therapy for ischemic heart disease via genetic modification of protein coding or non-coding genes, or pharmaceutical administration with small molecules. His lab also investigates the role of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the cardioprotection.
