Funding and Grants

We are committed to assisting Ohio State University faculty and Industry Partners in collaboration with seeking Intra and Extramural funding in Stem Cells, Cell Based Therapy, Tissue Engineering or Wound, Burn and Trauma.

We have a unique strength of finding internal and external partners in the field of regenerative medicine and supporting the application process towards successful funding.

The Center for Regenerative Medicine and Cell Based Therapies

 Multi-Track Pilot and Collaborative Funding

Request for Applications

Established faculty* from any two or more of the seven participating Colleges may co-apply: Arts & Sciences, Dentistry, Engineering, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine. Application must be multi-PI involving at least two (or more) of the above 7 colleges. Proposals must address one of the following four themes: Cell-Based Therapies, Stem Cells, Tissue Engineering or Wound Healing. Imaging studies in the context of the above four themes are desired. Extraordinary innovation is required.

 
CRMCBT will review all applications and understand what areas have need for funding. Not all tracks will be concurrently funded. Funding decisions will be made based on extraordinary merit of the application and alignment with Center mission.
 
Application Deadline: The Center will not be establishing defined deadlines, but request a one page Letter of Intent outlining your proposal be emailed to brent.toto@osumc.edu. Letters of Intent will be reviewed and applicant(s) will be contacted to further discuss. Funding is limited, so we do encourage you to submit as soon as your idea is formulated and meets our requirements listed here.
 
I. Publications and Productivity Track
   a. Applicant may be single PI – open to all from participating Colleges
   b. $2500 limit per PI per year
   c. Relevant publication recognizing CRMCBT in affiliation
   d. For publications over impact factor 5
   e. $250 (5-6), $300 (6-7), $350 (7-8), $400 (8-10), $500 (>10)
   f. Funds may be used for approved conference travel and core expenses
 
II. Inter-College Partnership 
   a. Compelling case for multi-PI extramural funding
        i. Responding to published extramural RFA to develop research data
        ii. Extraordinary team strength
        iii. Extraordinary science
        iv. IP development will be prioritized
   b. $25-50K per year for two years
 
III. Program Project Proposal
    a. Formal pre-approval from sponsor  (e.g. NIH or any other agency)
         i. Extraordinary team strength
        ii. Extraordinary science
    b. $50K per year for one year
 
IV. Industry Partnership
    a. Matching $$ by Industry Partner
          i. Leverages key OSU strength
          ii. Partnership growth opportunity
          iii. Extraordinary science
     iv. IP development will be prioritized
   b. $25-50K per year for two years
 
V. Intellectual Property (IP) Track
      a. Promising IP with commercial potential
      b. $25K per year for two years
 
VI. OSUCCC and CRMCBT Intramural Research Program Award
The Center for Regenerative Medicine and Cell Based Therapies and OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) have partnered again the Spring 2014 Intramural Research Program Awards (IRP) (including The Pelotonia Research Awards Program and other funding sources).  The CRMCBT Joint Award will be part of five other award categories:
 
·        Team Science Awards (PeloTS),
·        Idea Awards
·        Community Partnership Awards
·        Clinical Trial Awards - Protocol-Specific Research Support
·        Bridge Funding Awards
·        Center for Regenerative Medicine and Cell-Based Therapies (CRMCBT) Joint Awards
 
The RFA announcement will be made on January 6, 2014 and applications are due February 14, 2014..
