Tips for Meeting with Mentors

The Medical Student Research Program office has put together a quick checklist of important tips and documents to share with prospective mentors. Meeting with multiple mentors in advance of key funding application deadlines is important. Download the checklist (PDF) to get some ideas of what to bring with you to your initial and follow-up meetings with faculty. Also review the Landacre Honor Society Mentor Search Tips Research Guide (PDF) for assistance.

Our departments and centers offer research mentoring for research students. Review departments and centers listing and contacts (PDF) for a full list of faculty researcher contacts.

Medical Student Research Fair

Each fall, the Medical Student Research Program holds a Research Information Fair where interested faculty members are available to talk with Medical Students looking for research experiences and mentors. There is a wide variety of basic, clinical, and translational projects available from Ohio State and Nationwide Children's Hospital. See program calendar for dates and times.

Previous Medical Student Scholarship Mentors

Many students have been very successful connecting with mentors who have had previous Roessler, Bennett, or Watts scholarship recipients in their labs. These mentors have had the experience of mentoring a Medical Student, are familiar with the academic course load  and the requirements of scholarship awardees.
