We would like to welcome you to the Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME) at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC)! We are excited to provide the best experiences for your graduate medical education training.

Our GME office serves as the liaison between accrediting agencies and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center GME training programs. The GME office oversees and monitors the activities of our residency and fellowship programs and provides resources and interpretation of university and accrediting body policies. We interface with resident and fellow trainees, program directors, department chairs, and other hospital-wide stakeholders to support our trainees and provide the best clinical learning environment possible. We look forward to providing the best educational experience during your training!

Graduate Medical Education Accreditation

The Ohio State University College of Medicine’s 150+residency and fellowship programs strive to be the best training programs in the country, meeting and exceeding accreditation standards set forth by the various GME accreditation organizations. Currently, over 75 of our programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), a private, non-profit organization that reviews and accredits graduate medical education (residency and fellowship) programs, and the institutions that sponsor them, in the United States.

The Graduate Medical Education Committee at Ohio State University College of Medicine ensures that all programs, regardless of the accrediting body, meet the high standards set forth by the ACGME as part of the Next Accreditation System (NAS). This includes making certain that both the institution and all training programs are meeting established expectations to guarantee that residents and fellows demonstrate proficiency in the six ACGME core competencies during their graduate medical education training.

Other organizations that accredit The Ohio State University programs include UCNS, CAST, CODA, APA, ASFPSandCPME.

All trainee verification, Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF document), and on-call room/resident lounge requests are processed through GME@osumc.edu. Please remember to include a signed release from the trainee for any verification request. Please allow for 7-10 days to process all verifications, PSLF documents, and on-call/resident lounge requests.
