IT Security Engineer (Job Opening 457478) - Responsible for the planning, engineering, development, implementation, and compliance monitoring for organization-wide security programs. Activities include: performing analysis to ensure security controls are consistently implemented, integrating new technology with IT security standards, developing and executing plans for monitoring, assessing and verifying security controls across all major information systems, and developing, evaluating, and exercising IT survivability and contingency plans. Position is responsible for monitoring real time data, discovering security events, analyzing qualified incidents, executing documented resolutions for common incident, recommending remediation steps for new incidents and escalating major security incidents. Responsible for IT Security projects that range from medium to large in scope, risk and impact. Leads and facilitates strategic projects involved in evaluating and researching new and existing products, procedures and/or workflows needs associated with OSUHP IT. Also participates in some applications development/support, report development/support and general technology support to OSUHP end-users.
Education and experience
Bachelor's degree and/or five to seven years IT systems analyst experience -The ability to demonstrate experience and knowledge of information security best practices and concepts. Regulatory experience (such as HIPAA, FERPA, PCI). HIPAA is preferred. Security Awareness and training experience. Broad knowledge of networking and operating systems. Knowledge of managing a technology stack and keeping it up to date (with appropriate security patches, etc.). Good verbal and written communication skills. CISSP (or other related IT security certification) preferred On going: Enhance knowledge of information security analysis methodologies and techniques; develop knowledge of industry developments in the areas of security system.
