We value your trust and want you to know what we know. Review our recent Q&A sessions with expert panels to stay informed about the COVID-19 pandemic. From testing to variants to vaccines, we’re focused on giving you care and sharing the knowledge to keep yourself and your family safe.
Our panel of experts discuss the latest developments in the COVID-19 pandemic, the Omicron variant and Ohio hospital capacity. The total number of COVID-19 inpatients has reached the numbers seen during the Delta surge this summer. All of our hospitals across the state are struggling with staffing shortages and burnout. For our immunocompromised patients, those that are unvaccinated with medical comorbidities are recommended to get the vaccine due to higher risk. Vaccination remains important for all ages to prevent community spread and to reduce risk of serious illness. Ohio State has a robust monoclonal infusion program for high risk patients of age 65 or older and those with medical problems under age 65. Out of 1000 samples sequenced in Ohio since Thanksgiving, 2 have had the Omicron variant.
