The experts are at Ohio State.

Ohio State physicians were the first in the country to perform surgery with the da Vinci® robot, and we’ve been leading the field ever since. Performing roughly 1,600 robotic surgeries a year, we have the most experienced robotic surgical team in Ohio, and we offer the most comprehensive robotics program. Our expertise in urologic, gynecologic and heart robotic surgery for both malignant and benign conditions is unmatched in the region, and many of the most respected medical institutions across the nation look to us for robotic training. Because of this expertise, we have an extensive training program where we're training the leaders of tomorrow. The experts are at Ohio State.

We are continuously expanding our robotic capabilities and researching new ways to help patients benefit from this state-of-the-art technology.

Successful robotic surgery requires experienced surgeons.

Robotic surgery offers patients numerous significant benefits, and its utility is being studied in more procedures all the time. But while this is an exciting step forward in technology, one thing remains the same: the experience of the surgeon is crucial to the success of the procedure.

Ohio State’s Center for Advanced Robotic Surgery includes our cancer experts at the OSUCCC – James, our heart and vascular leaders at Ohio State's Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital and our pioneers at Ohio State University Hospital. The Center is directed by Jeffrey Fowler, MD. As the Vice Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Fowler is a pioneer in the use and expansion of the use of robotics to treat gynecologic cancers. Dr. Fowler is the most experienced robotic surgeon in his specialty in the state of Ohio. Ohio State has the only surgical team in Ohio fully dedicated to robotic surgery. We perform more robotic procedures in a day than many hospitals with robotics around the country do in a month. People come to Ohio State to feel confident in the care they’re receiving.
