Honoring Organ Donors and Transplant Recipients
Every April during Donate Life Month, transplant recipients and volunteers from Ohio State's Comprehensive Transplant Center and Lifeline of Ohio plant a pinwheel garden on the front plaza of University Hospital at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
This April 2022, 11,500 pinwheels will be planted, each representing a lifesaving organ transplant performed at Ohio State since our first - a kidney - in 1967.
Our ever-turning pinwheel has 1 stem supporting 8 spokes, symbolizing the power of 1 HERO to save up to 8 lives through organ donation.
