DOS Research Volunteer Program
Launched in November 2021 in response to requests from URiM undergraduate and medical students wishing to pursue research in the DOS, an online application was created to centralize research opportunities within the DOS. To date, 10 medical students have signed up and have been partnered with research mentors in the department. Click here to sign up to participate.
DOS Faculty Mentorship Program
The mentorship program was created to facilitate promotion of faculty at the Assistant Professor level. Members of the council assist junior faculty to both form an experienced mentorship team and develop deliverables, in order that they achieve their academic and clinical goals
Empowering and Engaging Future URiM Surgeons – “Experiences in Surgery Residency”
Annual two-hour webinar hosted by the DOS to engage URiM medical students interested in surgery. It consists of a brief overview of the department, followed by a Q&A with invited faculty and residents.
Departmental Grand Rounds
The department continues its commitment to promoting DEI by to purposeful integration into our annual lecture series both explicitly, through DEI-related topics, and implicitly by ensuring diversity amongst our guest speakers.
