Residents Win ASC JeopardyMajor Accomplishments

  • Ohio State won the first ASC Surgical Jeopardy Challenge, beating out other resident classes from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Baylor College of Medicine and University of Michigan. A big congratulations to the team of David Strosberg, MD, chief resident, and Tae Yoo, MD, a fourth-year general surgery resident. Their performance had everyone talking at the meeting - especially nailing the final Jeopardy question!

  • Drew Shirley, MD, assistant professor, Division of Surgical Oncology, represented Ohio State as our participant in the ASC Poker Tournament to raise funds for the foundation. He was one of only 14 people to participate.

  • Ohio State had the third most abstracts/presentations of any Department of Surgery in the country. More than 30 research projects were presented.

  • Ohio State had broad representation at the meeting, with more than 25 attendees, including medical students, residents, fellows and faculty.

  • An Ohio State medical student participated in the best abstract award contest.
