2021 MD Camp Dates
June 14th, 2021 - July 1st, 2021
If camp is completely virtual, the camp dates will be slightly shortened to June 14th, 2021-June 25, 2021.
The decision of camp being in-person, virtual, or hybrid will be made in the next couple months and we will post updates as soon as decisions are made.
Completed applications (including 2 letters of recommendation) are due on March 18th, 2021 at 11:59pm.
Please prepare the following essay questions for the application:
- Please compose an essay on the following topic: "Why I want to attend MD Camp." In your essay, please be sure to include what you hope to learn and experience during MD Camp. (500-word maximum)
- The role of a doctor is to help others in the community. Describe a meaningful experience (extracurricular activity, community service experience, or other) in which you helped others in your community. How was this experience meaningful or important to you? (250-word maximum)
- Describe the greatest challenge you have faced and how you worked to overcome that challenge. (250-word maximum)
- Please describe if the COVID-19 Pandemic has affected your application in any way. (OPTIONAL)
Q: Will MD Camp be virtual or in-person this year?
A: We are still unsure about this question, and will update our website as soon as we know. However, MD Camp is for sure going to happen, and we will make sure to communicate as we figure out how.
Q: How much does MD Camp cost?
A: In a typical year (in-person), MD Camp was $700. If MD Camp is fully virtual, it will likely be free of charge. Again, we will communicate this as we find out exact costs.
Q: Do you offer scholarships?
A: Yes. If you are on free/reduced lunch, your camp fee will be waived (you will upload documentation on the application.) If you have extenuating financial circumstances, there is also a spot on the application for this and we will consider you for scholarships.
Q: Do you offer boarding?
A: No, if you are not from Columbus and the camp is in-person, you are responsible for your own boarding.
Q: How do I submit my letter of recommendation?
A: In the application, there is a link that you can send to your letter provider. Once they have this link, they can directly submit your letter of recommendation to us as a PDF.
