About

Biography

My research focuses on improving outcomes following hand and upper-extremity injuries through basic science, translational and clinical research. In my laboratory, I study the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying tendon and peripheral nerve healing, fibrosis and musculoskeletal regeneration, with the goal of identifying new strategies to improve tissue repair and functional recovery.

My clinical and translational research examines hand and wrist injuries, peripheral nerve disorders, clinical outcomes and upper-extremity biomechanics. I have a particular interest in sports-related injuries and injury prevention, including research in fencing that combines injury epidemiology with three-dimensional motion analysis and dynamic electromyography to better understand injury mechanisms.

My long-term goal is to translate discoveries in tendon and nerve biology into new approaches that improve healing, reduce fibrosis and restore function following upper-extremity injury. I have authored more than 55 peer-reviewed scientific publications and am committed to collaborative research that advances the care of patients with hand and upper-extremity conditions.
