About
Biography
I am an assistant professor of Family and Community Medicine in The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I specialize in preparing future family medicine physicians to practice evidence-based medicine while fostering empathy, collaboration and meaningful patient relationships. My work focuses on medical education, physician training and also on advancing patient-centered care through teaching and mentorship.
As a residency core clinical faculty member, I am committed to creating a culture of continuous learning, collaboration and professional growth. Watching trainees develop confidence, form meaningful patient relationships and embrace patient-centered care reinforces my belief that education has a lasting impact far beyond the classroom or clinic.
My professional achievements include receiving the Family and Community Residency Excellence in Academics Award and the Courage to Teach recognition, both from The Ohio State University. I also served as the academic chief resident during my residency.
My journey in medicine has always been deeply connected to a passion for teaching. While caring for patients allows me to make an impact with one person at a time, my work as an educator and mentor broadens that impact because I help shape the next generation of physicians. Through both clinical practice and academic medicine, I have found opportunities to support learners as they develop the knowledge, skills and professional values needed to provide exceptional care.
Serving as an instructor and mentor has profoundly influenced my career. Teaching medical students and resident physicians encourages me to continually examine the reasoning behind clinical decisions, remain current with emerging evidence and refine my own approach to patient care. The thoughtful questions that trainees bring to the learning environment challenge me to stay intellectually curious and committed to lifelong learning.
One of my primary goals as an educator is to model the human side of medicine. I strive to demonstrate the importance of listening carefully, practicing compassion and engaging patients as active partners in their healthcare. Helping learners understand the value of trust, communication and shared decision-making is among the most rewarding aspects of my work.
