About
Biography
I am Esmerina Tili, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. As a member of the Department of Anesthesiology research teams, I specialize in microRNA biology, immunology and inflammation. My research focuses on the role of microRNA, particularly MicroRNA-155 (miR-155), in regulating immune response and inflammatory processes across a range of disease contexts.
My work explores how microRNA signaling influences cell proliferation and immune system behavior, with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets. I am especially interested in how dysregulated microRNA pathways contribute to inflammation-driven conditions and infectious diseases, including COVID-19. By studying these mechanisms, I aim to better understand how the immune system responds to stressors and how these responses can be modulated for improved outcomes.
I also investigate bioactive compounds such as resveratrol and their impact on microRNA expression and immune regulation. Through this research, I work to bridge molecular biology and clinical application, advancing strategies that may support precision medicine approaches in anesthesiology and beyond.
My work is rooted in immunology and microbiology and spans translational research efforts designed to move discoveries from the laboratory toward meaningful clinical impact.
