About
Biography
I earned my doctorate in Anatomy from The Ohio State University in 2015. Prior to joining Ohio State in 2011, as a PhD student, I earned my MS from Chatham University and taught at local colleges in Pittsburgh, PA. Currently, I am an Associate Professor – Clinical in the Division of Anatomy where I teach human gross anatomy and embryology to medical students. I am active in the College of Medicine and serve many roles including Academic Program Co Director for Part One of the Lead.Serve.Inspire (LSI) medical curriculum.
I am a strong advocate for supporting students and mentoring them along their path towards professional school, research, and/or academia. I actively mentor MS and PhD students pursing their passions. She is active in the American Association for Anatomy (AAA) and the American Association of Clinical Anatomists (AACA). I am President of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) and currently serves on the Board of Directors of HAPS.
I have received many teaching awards while at Ohio State including Best Teaching and Learning Methods (TLMs) for my work in Part One of the medical curriculum in 2019, 2021, and 2023, the 2020 Ohio State University Alumni Association Distinguished Faculty Award, the 2021 Part One Excellence in Education Award, the 2021 LSI Medical School Curriculum Inspire Award, as well as the 2022 Division of Anatomy’s Excellence in Education Award. In May 2022, I received the College of Medicine’s highest teaching award, Professor of the Year, for my significant impact on the training of medical students. I was also awarded the 2023 Ohio State University College of Medicine Alumni Society’s Faculty Teaching Award for my contributions to the educational mission of the university and college.
My research focuses on developing and evaluating innovative approaches in teaching the anatomical sciences including ultrasound and anatomy. I continue to use my dissertation work as well to help students succeed in the curriculum.
