About
Biography
I hold the John W. Wolfe Professorship in Cardiovascular Research and am a professor of both Radiology and Internal Medicine in The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I am the director of the Center for Imaging Excellence and the director of advanced cardiovascular imaging research, and I serve as vice chair of Research in Radiology.
Throughout my career spanning more than 30 years, I have focused my research on expanding applications for cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) technology. My work has centered on developing pulse sequences and technologies to enable faster and more reliable imaging of the heart and blood vessels. I have contributed to the development of several CMR techniques, including black-blood turbo spin echo, late gadolinium enhancement, steady-state free precession cine, self-gating, T2 mapping, exercise CMR and low-field CMR.
I have authored more than 200 articles published in peer-reviewed journals and regularly present my research at national and international conferences. I have been active with the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR), including serving as president and as the society’s first CEO. I was also awarded the SCMR Gold Medal for distinguished and extraordinary service to the field of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.
