About
Biography
I am an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and my research focuses on clinical epidemiology, health services research, stroke prevention and also on geographic variation in stroke risk and access to specialized neurological care. I specialize in quantitative research methods including epidemiologic and observational studies, randomized controlled trials, secondary data analysis, data linkage, longitudinal data analysis, prediction modeling and comparative effectiveness research.
My research aims to improve stroke prevention, to help us better understand geographic variation in stroke risk and care and to advance strategies that improve health outcomes. Current areas of investigation include studying stroke prevention among patients with asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis, developing novel approaches to improve estimates of stroke incidence across geographic regions and understanding the neurology physician workforce.
I have expertise in linking and analyzing large administrative, registry-based, clinical and population-level data sets in order to answer important questions about healthcare delivery and outcomes. My previous work has examined stroke risk, acute stroke treatment, post-stroke outcomes and readmissions, stroke rehabilitation and physician workforce trends.
My long-term goals are to build an independent research program that uses clinical and population-level data to better understand geographic and healthcare system variation in stroke risk and outcomes and to develop evidence-based strategies that improve stroke prevention and access to neurological care.
