About
Biography
I am a tenure-track clinician-researcher with a career goal of using health information technologies to improve the care of individuals with chronic diseases. I am board certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Clinical Informatics specializing in clinical informatics, sickle cell disease, phenotyping and personal health informatics.
My knowledge in these areas includes providing primary care for children and adults with sickle cell disease, technologies such as patient portals, mobile health technology, and electronic health records, and topics of health information needs, effective health communication, data science, and patient engagement. I also have methodological expertise in qualitative and quantitative methods, community-engaged research, and clinical trials. I have interest and expertise in the design and evaluation of electronic surveys, empowering individuals with healthcare and healthcare information technology disparities, secondary use of electronic health records to develop contemporaneous cohorts to follow the clinic history of disease, and transitional care of adolescents and young adults with chronic diseases from pediatric to adult medicine using the chronic care model.
My current research projects include his career development K23 grant, development of contemporaneous cohorts using electronic health records, cost-effectiveness and secondary data analyses in sickle cell disease, models of primary care in sickle cell disease, and a part of the Data and Research Center for the All of Us Research Program.
