Biography

I am an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and I specialize in aging, cognition, minority health and also in neurodegenerative diseases. My research focuses on developing and evaluating innovative care strategies that can help people who are experiencing cognitive decline have better independent functioning and improved quality of life.

My work examines how emerging technologies – including smart pillboxes, artificial intelligence (AI) tools and other digital healthcare solutions – can be used to help people maintain independence as they age. Through qualitative and quantitative research methods, I study practical approaches that can help people who are experiencing cognitive changes manage their everyday activities with autonomy and enhanced overall well-being.

I use different research methodologies, including surveys and questionnaires, secondary data analysis, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, to better understand factors that influence cognitive health and quality of life. My research interests also include addressing healthcare disparities and improving outcomes for underrepresented populations affected by cognitive decline and neurodegenerative diseases.

The long-term goal of my research is to identify scalable, evidence-based interventions that help individuals live independently for as long as possible while maintaining a high quality of life. By integrating technology with person-centered research, I aim to advance solutions that support individuals, families and communities facing the challenges of cognitive aging.

Professional highlights include serving as an editorial board member of The Clinical Neuropsychologist journal and serving as the education liaison for the International Neuropsychological Society's Cultural Special Interest Group.
