Biography

I am an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics. My position is funded by The Ohio State University Health Plan (OSUHP). My primary research interests are to integrate disparate sources of data from the payer (OSUHP) for assessing risks for chronic diseases with the long-term goal of informing enrollment in member engagement programs for improving health of the members and effectively enhancing business outcomes. In my evaluation of populations at risk for chronic diseases and in need for intervention, I incorporate the impact of several social determinants of health. I also serves as a research mentor for residents under the Pharmacy Residency Program at OSUHP. On the business side of the OSUHP, I play a key role in designing and evaluating bundle contracts as well as shared savings programs with providers.

Prior to taking on a faculty position in BMI, I joined the Department of Biomedical Informatics in June 2014 as a National Library of Medicine Postdoctoral Fellow (CTRIP: Clinical and Translational Research Informatics Training Program) in the department. During my CTRIP fellowship, I completed a Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree with specialization in Biomedical Informatics. More recently, to enhance my skills I also completed a Specialized Masters in Business Analytics from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. Prior to joining BMI, I had a 13-year career as a research scientist in the Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University. I have received a B.S. in Microbiology & Biochemistry and a M.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Bombay, India. I received my PhD in Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology from The Ohio State University in 2001.
