Experience and Interests
After completing his residency training, Chris took a position with The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy where he practiced at two federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) in the Columbus area providing care to the underserved with a focus on chronic disease state education and management, as well as a focus on helping patients overcome medication access barriers. He joined the Department of Family & Community Medicine in 2017, continuing to provide care to the underserved populations of Columbus and assisted with improving patient’s access to care with the conversion of currently existing clinics into FQHCs.
Chris is passionate about teaching and enjoys spending time with patients to ensure they fully understand their disease states and medicines. He also precepts students, residents, and fellows from various health professions. Specializing in diabetes management and the use of diabetes-related technology, it is not uncommon for him to be providing lectures in the classroom or educational presentations around the country. He is also interested in all aspects of cardiovascular risk reduction.
When providing care to patients, he listens to their concerns and uses shared decision making to help patients achieve their optimal wellness. Chris practices evidence-based medicine to ensure the right medicines are being used for the right reasons in the right patients and will often work with patients to decrease medicines as able.
Outside of his primary role as a pharmacist, Chris serves as a Buckeye Wellness Innovator to promote health and wellness within the workplace. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family. His hobbies include pickleball, sand volleyball, board/card games, traveling to new places, and cheering on the Columbus Crew and Buckeyes!
