Maggio_Dominic_720x720I attended neurosurgery residency at the National Institutes of Health-University of Virginia combined residency program. There I performed research in immunotherapy for Glioblastoma Multiforme, and developed a subspecialty interest in spine deformity and spine oncology. During residency, I garnered approximately 14 publications across basic science and clinical research categories. My oral presentation entitled “Inhibition of Protein Phosphatase-2A with PD-1 Blockade Enhances Antitumor Immunity and Survival in Glioblastoma” won the Donald O. Quest Award for best basic science presentation by a resident or fellow at the 2018 American Association of Neurologic Surgery Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA. Additionally, during residency I married my wife Ms. Bruna Maggio, and had three boys named Gianluca, Francesco, and Davide.
