College of Medicine seeks application screeners for 2020/2021 cycle

We need your help in handpicking our college’s next generation of physicians. While thousands of applicants are drawn to an institution that’s nationally recognized for education and research, we’re driven to find the best and brightest among them.

The Office of Admissions is in the process of recruiting screeners of medical school applications for the upcoming 2020/2021 cycle. Screeners are important auxiliary members of the College of Medicine Admissions Committee who fill a very important role: they help us screen applications to the college and help decide who will be granted an interview. In order to build a diverse group of screeners, we’re seeking physicians of all major specialties and PhD scientists in medical education.

All screening is done electronically and can even be done at home from your laptop or tablet. Screeners will receive training by the Office of Admissions staff, and will be asked to screen five applications online per week from late July - January. This will require a weekly time commitment of approximately 2 hours. The need for screeners is especially important this year given the challenges that students may have experienced as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Plus, each year some screeners are promoted to the full Admissions Committee so it is a great opportunity to demonstrate service.

If you would like to serve the College of Medicine in this important role, please respond with a one-paragraph note stating your interest, describing your participation in the education of medical students and the following information:

  • Medical/Research Specialty
  • Medical School/Graduate School Attended
  • Years of Professional Service
  • Years of Service at The Ohio State University, OSU Wexner Medical Center and/or Nationwide Children’s Hospital

Your response should be sent via email to Caitlin.Donahue@osumc.edu  by June 1, 2020. You will be notified by the Office of Admissions if you have been selected.

**If you were a screener for the 2019/2020 application cycle, you are not required to submit this information.

We look forward to hearing from you!
