Call for submissions for the Health Sciences Art Show in March
The art show will be held in-person in Meiling Hall from March 6 to March 8 and includes an opening reception on March 6 at 4 p.m.
According to Mike Horgan, Humanism in Medicine program manager at the Ohio State College of Medicine, there will be an online gallery of the pieces, along with submitted pieces of spoken word, music, audio and video.
“Ribbons will be awarded and a limited selection of pieces will be eligible for an extended exhibition at The James Art Gallery,” Horgan says.
Last year, a painting created by a family of three was chosen by Carol R. Bradford, MD, MS, FACS, dean of the Ohio State College of Medicine, for an award. Craig and Mallory Allen, who work at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Department of Supply Chain Management, along with their son Everett, created a deep bond painting together.
Craig Allen says the effort started with his desire to get his son interested in art.
“I started setting up large canvases for us to work on together,” Allen says. “The freedom of laying down paint with a brush helped us create a piece of art that started to take shape.”
