Ohio State is the only academic institution in the country to have six graduate programs receive the Health Professions HEED award.

Carol R. Bradford, MD, MS, dean of the Ohio State College of Medicine, says this remarkable achievement reflects the ongoing collaboration of leaders across the health sciences colleges and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center to cultivate an inclusive environment that’s welcoming to all individuals, learners, faculty and staff and celebrates best practices.

“We continue to drive innovation and broaden initiatives, programs and outreach that create inclusive and innovative education, discovery and care,” says Dr. Bradford. “Fostering a sense of belonging for all faculty, staff and learners allows them to deliver on our ambition of transforming the health of the communities we serve.”

The Health Professions HEED Award is the only national honor recognizing institutions of higher education for their outstanding commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. The selection process includes a comprehensive and rigorous application exploring student and employee recruitment and retention best practices and leadership support of diversity and inclusion efforts.

Ohio State hosted the HEED Award celebration on Dec. 5, bringing together members from the six health sciences colleges to celebrate the momentous achievement and honor their continuous efforts in diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.
