The Non-Viral Gene Delivery Hub is a dedicated Ohio State University resource advancing next-generation gene transfer technologies and expanding the translational capabilities of our research community. Contact the Hub manager Diego Alzate-Correa, PhD at AlzateCorrea.1@osu.edu to discuss project needs and planning.
Available Equipment
Exodus EVs isolation system
EXosome Detection via the Ultrafast-isolation System (EXODUS) uses negative pressure oscillation (NPO) and a dual coupled oscillator that generate dual-frequency transverse waves on a nanoporous membrane to achieve highly efficient, label-free isolation of extracellular vesicles from enriched cell culture media various and biological fluids.Izon size exclusion chromatography (SEC) EVs isolation system
Izon's quick Extracellular Vesicle (qEV) platform is a SEC-based system for isolating EVs from biological samples. qEV columns separate exosomes and other EVs from contaminating particles such as proteins and lipoproteins size as they pass through a column of porous resin.Ascent size exclusion chromatography (SEC) EVs isolation system
The Ascent system is an automated SEC-based EV isolation instrument developed by Everest Biolabs. The Ascent is an open platform, compatible with Everest's own Apex columns that combine SEC with a multi-mode (MM) resin to significantly enhance EV purity by removing more proteins and lipoproteins than SEC alone.Zetaview Nanoparticle Tracking Analyzer
The ZetaView analyzer captures the Brownian motion of individual biological nanoparticles to rapidly measure hydrodynamic particle size, concentration, the surface charge state (zeta potential) of nanometer size particles. In addition, the Zetaviews employs a dual laser configuration to detect fluorescence of particles such as exosomes, extracellular vesicles, and viruses.Neon NxT Electroporation System
The Neon NxT is a next-generation electroporation platform by Thermo Fisher Scientific, designed for highly efficient electrotransfection of mammalian cells. The Neon NxT uses a unique pipette tip that optimizes the electric field and eliminates the need for a separate electroporation cuvette, reducing contamination risk while fitting compactly within a biosafety cabinet.Nanoelectroporation System
Nanoelectroporation (NEP) is a refined approach to electroporation that uses nanoscale structures to achieve highly localized, controlled intracellular delivery of biomolecules with minimal cell damage. In NEP, the electric field is precisely focused on a single cell positioned on nanochannels, enabling safe single-cell electroporation as well as electrophoretic molecular delivery on the same device.Tissue Nanotransfection System
Tissue Nanotransfection (TNT) is a groundbreaking non-viral in vivo gene delivery platform developed her at The Ohio State University. The TNT device consists of a nanotechnology-based silicon chip mounted beneath a cargo reservoir containing genetic material. When electrical pulses are applied, hollow needles concentrate the electric field at their tips, temporarily porating nearby cell membranes and enabling targeted delivery of charged genetic material into the tissue.Helios Gene Gun System
The Helios Gene Gun is a handheld particle delivery system made by Bio-Rad. The system uses a helium pulse to accelerate gold particles coated with different biomolecules directly into target cells, including cell cultures, tissues, and plants. The small coated gold bead penetrates cells without destroying them, becomes lodged in an internal layer of the targeted tissue, and releases its cargo intracellularly.
