No. 6 in the Nation for General Surgery Residency

For the fifth consecutive year, Ohio State’s General Surgery Residency Program has ranked in the top 10 nationally—and this year, it climbed to No. 6 in the country, according to the 2025–2026 Doximity Residency Navigator. This ranking, based on a national survey of board-certified physicians, reflects the program’s reputation for delivering outstanding clinical training.

No. 19 Globally for Surgical Research and Innovation

In addition to its national acclaim, the Department of Surgery has earned a spot among the top 20 surgery schools in the world, ranking No. 19 in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Global Universities for Surgery. This global ranking is based on research performance across surgical specialties, including organ transplantation, trauma surgery and minimally invasive techniques.
