Jeffrey Hoffman, MD, has served on the faculty of The Ohio State University College of Medicine since 2003 as a board certified pediatric emergency medicine physician. In 2013, he became one of the first board certified clinical informaticists at the university, and in 2016 (in partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital) spearheaded the creation of one of the country’s first ACGME-accredited Clinical Informatics Fellowship Programs. Dr. Hoffman currently serves as fellowship program director. In 2016, Dr. Hoffman was appointed as the first chief of the Division of Clinical Informatics in the Department of Pediatrics. With over 25 years of clinical practice experience, he has long understood the value of information and information technology in the service of patients, families and health care professionals. Through the application of electronic medical records and other health information technologies, Dr. Hoffman supports patient care activities, population health management programs, quality and safety initiatives, and a variety of research projects. His own interests are in the domains of clinical decision support, provider efficiency, utilization management, health information exchange and system governance.
