Andrea I. Doseff, PhD is an associate professor with tenure in the Department of Molecular Genetics (75%) and the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology (25%) at The Ohio State University. Dr. Doseff received her bachelor’s degree from University of Sciences of Buenos Aires, Argentina and her PhD from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, New York working in cell cycle regulation. She completed her postdoctoral training in apoptosis at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. She joined The Ohio State University as an assistant professor in 2002. She leads a multidisciplinary research team recognized nationally and internationally in the area of cell death and health-related mechanisms of flavonoids. Her findings have been published in PNAS, Immunity, Genetics, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Biochemical Pharmacology and Journal of Immunology, among others. She serves as associate editor and ad-hoc reviewer for several journals. She has received funding continuously from National Institute of Health, National Science Foundation, USDA, the American Lung Association and the American Heart Association. She serves as grant reviewer chair for American Heart Association and as ad-hoc for NSF and NIH. She teaches and has developed courses for undergraduate and graduate students. She is the co-director of the Dual PhD Program OSU - University of São Paulo, Brazil and directs the SiGuE (Success in Graduate Education), post-baccalaureate program.

- Content: This course is for students performing research in my laboratory that are conducting an honor research thesis
- Contribution: I meet with students once per week one-to-one to teach them how to design experiments. We also meet once a week in lab meetings as a group, where trainees will present current progress of their research. I teach students interpreting data, write fellowship, scientific articles, posters and the honor thesis. I also help students with oral presentations
Graduate courses
- Molecular Genetics 5796. Topics in Signal Transduction, 2013 - present
- Credits hrs: 1 to 2. Students enrolled: eight (in 2013) and 13 (in 2014). Fall semester
- The course is directed to PhD students from several different programs including: molecular genetics, molecular cellular and development biology, OSBP, nutrition, optometry and by senior undergraduate students from different majors
- Content: Network theory applied to signal transduction pathways involved contributing to the pathophysiology of inflammatory diseases and cancer. As part of the course students were also required to present an article in groups followed by discussion and write an abstract that was graded
- Contribution: I developed the curriculum, provided 100% of the lectures, developed and graded final, midterms, exercises and presented a hands-on workshop on large data analyses
- Molecular Genetics 660. Integrated Molecular and Cellular Biology for non-biologist I, 2009 - 2012
- Credit hrs: 5. Students enrolled: eight to 12 depending on the year. Fall semester
- Content: This course was intended for master and PhD students in mathematics. The course consisted in lectures, interactive activities and included also one week of laboratory experience and one day of poster presentations by the students and three days of manuscript presentations
- Contribution: I developed the curriculum in collaboration with Drs. H. Chamberlain and E. Grotewold. I taught 40% of all the lectures during the fall semester, developed and graded midterms and finals. Lead discussion during paper presentations

- Content: Laboratory research for PhD students
- Contribution: I meet with students once per week, I teach them how to design experiments and help them with data interpretation. I teach students to write fellowship and manuscripts. I also help students with poster and oral presentations. I teach them rational and critical thinking. We also meet once a week for two hours for lab meetings
