Dr. Cebulla is a vitreoretinal specialist and ocular oncologist specializing primarily in adult patients with intraocular tumors and retinal disease. She's a referral source to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for patients with uveal melanoma, metastasis to the eye, intraocular lymphoma. She's one of the ophthalmologists for the Ohio State Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome Clinical Care Center, which was granted in 2017. Dr. Cebulla sees patients at the Eye and Ear Institute, the Westerville satellite office, University Hospital and James Comprehensive Cancer Center Hospitals, and the Columbus VA. At the Columbus VA, she runs an ultrasound clinic with the residents geared towards evaluating patients with intraocular lesions and for hands-on experience with ultrasound. She serves the retina division taking call approximately every fourth week. Her duties include management of surgical retinal problems including repairing retinal detachments and treating endophthalmitis.

Active Funding

Active

Characterization of the role of MIF on retinal health and disease
NIH R01EY GRANT13131707
04/01/2021-03/31/2026

The goal is to define the important functional relationships between MIF, signaling pathways, glia-mediated neuronal survival, and genome-wide transcriptional switches during retinal damage to set the stage for future studies targeting key molecular pathways to prevent and recover visual loss from retinal damage.
Role: PI

Full Field OCT for Cellular Level Structural and Functional Retinal Imaging
R01EY031098 (MPIs: Doble, Zawadzki)
9/01/2020- 08/31/2024

The goal is to design, construct and implement a full field OCT (FF-OCT) system capable of extremely fast data capture, approximately 900 OCT volumes per sec., to obtain structural and functional measurements at the level of an individual neuron in healthy controls and subjects with age-related macular degeneration.
Role: Co-Investigator

Macrophage migration inhibitor (MIF) therapeutics for neuroprotection and prevention of scar in traumatic retinal detachment
VR170167
9/01/2018-08/31/2021

The goal is to test the ability of promising agents identified based on our preliminary data to enhance preservation of tissue form and function

Pending

Mechanisms of neuroprotection mediated by MIF and ISO-1 d-dopachrome tautomerase inhibition in retinal damage
NIH R01EY030612
07/01/2019-06/30/2024

The goal is to determine direct and indirect mechanisms of neuroprotection of d-DT inhibitors on retinal neurons in excitotoxic damage.
Role: PI
