Professional Interests
As the Director of Clinical Microbiology, I oversee the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory operations and microbiological diagnosis for the OSU Medical Center, Ross Heart Hospital, Ohio State East Hospital, and the associated outreach clinics. I am particularly excited about approaches to infectious disease diagnostics by rapid methods that detect pathogens in a clinically-relevant time frame to impact optimal patient management.
As a principal investigator, test development from the lab bench or clinical trials and translation into clinically valuable tests that impact patient care is a particularly gratifying experience. My lab plays an active role in the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program within the Medical Center to employ proactive, multifaceted strategies to detect, report and minimize the spread of antibiotic resistant pathogens within the hospital.
