Research Interests
Dr. Ghoneim's research focuses on understanding the epigenetic programming of T cells during infection and cancer. He seeks to develop a conceptual understanding of how epigenetic networks regulate T-cell function and responsiveness to immunotherapies. Despite the unprecedented success of immune checkpoint blockade therapy in treating multiple types of cancer, many patients remain nonresponsive. His goal is to develop novel T cell-targeted epigenetic therapies to enhance the efficacy of T-cell immunotherapy.
