Faculty, staff and community members attended open houses and a ribbon cutting ceremony this past week at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s new University Hospital. Slated to open February 22, it is the largest single facilities project ever undertaken at the university, serving the community by providing the very best care for every person, every time.

The 1.9 million-square-foot space features:

  • Elevated patient-centered care, with 820 beds in private-room settings, and 234 intensive care unit beds.
  • Leading-edge research, clinical trial and training spaces that are built for collaboration and complex, specialized treatments and surgeries.
  • Advanced, next-generation robotic technology, and patient digital screens to access team member information, video conferencing and education.
  • Access to world-class specialties such as critical care, surgery, neurology, neurosurgery and transplant services.
  • Top three floors dedicated to maternity care and birthing program, with features like private rooms to support individualized birthing experiences.
  • Quiet healing spaces for patients and team members throughout.

The showcase campaign for University Hospital proclaims that it illustrates the efforts to set a new standard for science, research and care as a “declaration to Ohio and the nation.”
