Columbus Business First’s 40 Under 40 ranking is back for 2026. The publication, part of American City Business Journals, has again named a select group of 40 young leaders in central Ohio – under the age of 40 – to the list.  Michael Prats, MD, a clinical professor of Emergency Medicine and director of Ultrasound Research at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, made this year’s list, and was selected due to his career accomplishments and the high level of community involvement.

Dr. Prats delivers care in the emergency department at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and deftly uses observation skills to take a broad differential of a patient and their symptoms and narrow them quickly into manageable options and treatment plans.

He also delivers a podcast aimed at healthcare professionals, called "Ultrasound G.E.L. (Gathering Evidence from the Literature),” that reviews advancements in ultrasound technology, its applications in pre-hospital settings and the potential of artificial intelligence training in medical training. The podcast also reviews recent medical literature in the field of point-of-care ultrasound, so that listeners can apply evidence-based findings from scientific studies into their ultrasound practice. Dr. Prats reaches audiences across the country who tune in to learn more about bridging practical experience with emerging technologies and how this work is transforming the landscape of healthcare education and training.

Congratulations, Dr. Prats, on this distinguished achievement.
