Dr. Özer is a research scientist in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) and technical director of the Biomedical Informatics Shared Resource (BISR), which is a joint initiative between  BMI and the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC). As the technical director of BISR, Dr. Özer is responsible for comprehensive and systematic management of BISR's daily operations, as well as building and expanding research initiatives with researchers on and off OSU's campus. Dr. Özer has authored or co-authored 28 peer-reviewed publications.

Prior to her current appointments in the department, she was a postdoctoral researcher in the labs of Drs. Kun Huang and Jeffrey Parvin, and as a staff member in BISR.. During her postdoctoral training, Dr. Özer built up robust expertise in the analysis and integration of high-throughput, high dimensional biological data including RNA-sequencing, exome-sequencing, ChIP-sequencing, whole genome re-sequencing, Microarray, and NanoString data. 

Dr. Özer​ received her doctoral degree in Biophysics from Ohio State University, a master's degree in Biophysics from Gaziantep University in Faziantep, Turkey, and a bachelor's in computer engineering from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey.
