Education at CREATE
Situated within an academic medical center, education is a core endeavor. The Center for Research, Education, and Advancement of Transdisciplinary Exploration (CREATE) is currently supported by several relationships and partnerships within the Ohio State community, and receives input from notable experts and advisers in the Department of Surgery, College of Medicine, College of Engineering, College of Design and Department of Biostatistics, among others. Facilitating collaboration between these groups, the center compounds their academic and professional works and inspires and invests in the next generation of experts through student mentorship and guidance on capstone projects. Ohio State's CREATE fosters an environment to attract and develop diverse and talented people committed to creating a culture of innovation and discovery.
CREATE Biomedical Engineering Immersion Opportunity
Biomedical engineering students are paired with an attending physician from the Department of Surgery to shadow for an entire day. This experience provides the student unprecedented interface with current healthcare systems and practices, as well as the problems currently encountered by healthcare providers. The BME Immersion Opportunity informs, inspires and catalyzes additional transdisciplinary opportunities at The Ohio State University.
CREATE Capstone Projects
Students from the College of Engineering are mentored by CREATE team members as they complete a capstone project. These projects provide invaluable experience with real-world problems, require practical problem solving and cultivate strong intellectual habits through working on diverse teams.
