Welcome to the Ohio State S.A.G.E. program!

Today, 16.5% of the U.S. population is over age 65. By 2030, they are expected to represent 20% of our population. With this growth comes the need to provide exceptional care to meet older adults' social and health service needs. That is why we have created The Ohio State University Series in Applied Gerontology Education (S.A.G.E.) Program.

Through the Office of Geriatrics and Gerontology at The Ohio State University, these courses are available as a distance education program, flexible to accommodate busy professional and personal lives.

We offer a series of aging courses that allow participants to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes to optimize the care provided to older adults and promote quality of life.

Upon successfully completing the three online distance learning courses, the participant will receive a graduate-level competency in the field of aging and a Certificate of Completion in Gerontology from The Ohio State University.

Curriculum

The OSU S.A.G.E. Program offers an integrated series of courses in aging that allow participants to obtain the knowledge and develop the skills and attitudes critical to meeting the health and social service needs of older adults. This three-course distance learning program of The Ohio State University is offered each semester--spring, summer, and autumn. It is preferable to begin the course sequence in the spring semester, although courses may be taken in any order. The OSU S.A.G.E. Program is appropriate for graduate-level students, professionals seeking continuing education, and others caring for our aging population.

The course will be conducted online via the Internet. Weekly discussions will be held via FORUMS available on the OSU S.A.G.E. Program website. You will need basic computer and web-browsing skills to participate in this online course fully. An online tutorial is provided under the "Help" tab should you need specific directions.

Participants successfully completing the OSU S.A.G.E. Program receive a Certificate of Completion in Gerontology from The Ohio State University(some exclusions apply).
