If you’re an adult who’s been impacted by crime-related violence, our program can help you cope and grow beyond your trauma.

How trauma can impact your life

Some symptoms may include:

  • Having nightmares or trouble sleeping at night
  • Becoming angry and aggressive
  • You find yourself withdrawing from those you care about
  • It’s difficult to make decisions
  • You are ill more often than normal
  • It’s difficult to leave the house
  • The feeling of being overwhelmed, isolated or misunderstood

No matter how your trauma experience is affecting your life, the OSU STAR Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) can offer grant-sponsored treatment, case management, and support free of charge.

Evidence-based therapy from a professional, caring staff

STAR TRC uses a variety of evidence-based therapies that have been shown to help survivors. We personalize your treatment according to your unique trauma experience.

Our staff includes physicians, licensed social workers, clinical counselors, case managers, psychiatrists, certified victim advocates, and other professionals who coordinate internal and community resources to help you navigate your recovery.

No two traumatic events are exactly alike. STAR TRC staff work with each survivor to tailor treatment and support to match individualized needs. We work with each survivor to help them learn how to recognize and cope with symptoms, and to navigate the healing process.

The STAR Trauma Recovery Center, one of the first of its kind in the Midwest, is federally-funded through a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant administered by the Ohio Attorney General’s office.
