Alumni Society presents awards recognizing distinguished career achievements in practice and teaching of medicine

The Ohio State University College of Medicine Alumni Society honored six alumni and faculty members on Sept. 3 for their outstanding contributions to medicine, medical education and service. The awards presented at the 2026 College of Medicine Alumni Awards Celebration recognized achievements in leadership, patient care, teaching, research and alumni engagement. The event was hosted by Amy M. Moore, MD, interim dean, and Jennifer Gold, MD, FAAP, vice dean for Education, for The Ohio State College of Medicine. Alumna Jessica Giffey, MD, also shared remarks. 

Alumni Achievement Award

Gary A. Roselle ’73 MD, and George J. Weiner ’81 MD, both received the Alumni Achievement Award for their leadership and lasting impacts in the field of healthcare. Dr. Roselle devoted his career to infectious disease prevention and served in leadership roles at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Weiner led the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center in Melrose, Iowa, for 23 years and is a nationally recognized cancer immunotherapy researcher and advisor. 

Alumni Service Award 

Deborah A. Venesy ’90 Res MD, received the Alumni Service Award for her years of dedication to the College of Medicine. A physician at Cleveland Clinic, she has served on our college's Admissions Committee and Medical Alumni Society Board, including as board president, helping strengthen connections between alumni, students and the college. 

Community Practice Alumni Award 

Maame Dankwah ’04 MD was recognized for her work as a neurologist, educator and community advocate. She has earned national recognition for excellence in neurology and has contributed to research and mentorship throughout her career. 

Early Career Achievement Award 

Pankti D. Reid ’13 MD, MPH received the Early Career Achievement Award for her work as a rheumatologist, researcher and educator at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on side effects related to cancer immunotherapy, and she founded one of the nation's first clinics dedicated to this area of care.

Faculty Teaching Award

Creagh T. Boulger ’11 Res MD, received the Faculty Teaching Award for her innovative approach to medical education. As a leader in emergency medicine and ultrasound education, she is known nationally for incorporating gaming and other creative teaching methods into training programs.
