Cory Coffey, PharmD, MS, BCACP, BCPP has been named a recipient of the Hamolsky Award from the Society of General Internal Medicine for an observational study he recently presented on pharmacy reimbursement.
In 2021, GIM Pharmacy Team members were early adopters of pharmacist-provider billing. At the 2024 SGIM annual meeting this past May, Dr. Coffey highlighted the growth from incorporating this billing model and how adopting it elevated provider status recognition for pharmacists in Ohio. Co-investigators on the study included GIM Division Director, Dan Jonas, MD, MPH and GIM Professor, Neeraj Tayal, MD, as well as Kelli Barnes, PharmD, BCACP, FAPhA, and Stuart J. Beatty, PharmD, MPAL, BCACP, FAPhA.
Dr. Coffey’s award was one of three Milton W. Hamolsky Awards presented to the scientific presentations considered most outstanding by junior faculty during the annual meeting. This award is among the highest honors bestowed by the SGIM. Recipients are recognized for making significant contributions to the profession over the past year.
