Creating new paths in education, exploration and care

The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Internal Medicine is committed to comprehensive patient care, high caliber research and innovative medical education for medical students, post-doctoral trainees and professional colleagues.

Each year physicians, fellows and staff in the division care for patients with a wide range of serious and life-threatening infections. Infectious disease faculty play an integral role in the optimization of antimicrobial use and improved patient outcomes within The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center as part of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program.

Among the division's major efforts is the creation of The Center for Microbial Interface Biology, an interdisciplinary collaboration among investigators campus-wide, and the Infectious Diseases Clinical Trials Unit, a National Institutes of Health-designated research site for the treatment of HIV and AIDS.
